I’m sure you share my excitement over the successful launch of NASA’s Aqua satellite on May 4. The launch, orbit insertion, and solar array deployment were flawless, and initial checks on the operation of all instruments were normal. Aqua will provide unprecedented information about the Earth’s water cycle, and significantly contribute to the science data acquisition strategy of NASA’s Earth Observing System, Aqua is the second in a series of large EOS missions, following the launch of Terra on December, 18, 1999.
