The Earth at Night poster was created with data from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) “day-night band” onboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) satellite. The data were acquired over nine days in April and thirteen days in October 2012. The back of the poster describes how the image was made, how the VIIRS Earth-at-night dataset is used, and includes an interesting facts section and quiz.
