Bio: 

Dr. Oreopoulos (aka Oraiopoulos) is a Research Physical Scientist with NASA-GSFC's Laboratory for Atmospheres since December 2008 and Aqua Deputy Project Scientist since February 2010. He conducts research on the modeling and remote sensing of clouds, cloud-aerosol interactions, radiative energy budgets, and many other aspects of atmospheric radiative transfer for climatic applications. He is a member of the Landsat Science Team, the AMS Atmospheric Radiation Committee, the International Radiation Commission, and the GEWEX Radiation Panel.

He has previously held positions as a researcher for the Cloud Physics Research Division of the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) and as a Research Associate Professor with UMBC's JCET and Department of Physics while based at GSFC. During his UMBC years he has taught a graduate atmospheric radiative transfer course on multiple occasions and has served as the leader of the JCET Radiation Focus Group for a three year period.

Dr. Oreopoulos received his B. Sc. in Physics with honors from Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1989, and M. Sc. (1992) and Ph. D. (1996) degrees in Atmospheric Science from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
